Plus CBD Oil Review
When I first read about the benefits of CBD oil, I wondered if it was good for Moms like me. While CBD oil is often placed into the same category as medical marijuana because it’s derived from hemp, it does not contain THC or get you high. I decided to try CBD Oil after reading about the benefits and I wanted to see if I could treat some of the stress headaches I experience in a natural way that won’t interfere with my ability to care for my family.
I had the opportunity to test products from Plus CBD Oil and I jumped on the opportunity. I have tried a few CBD oils obtained locally, but I wasn’t sure about the brand or quality and didn’t like the taste. I liked the information on the plus CBD website about quality and I’ve been testing out Plus CBD oil for a few weeks and want to share my thoughts with you.
Disclosure: I received products to facilitate my review however the opinions here are my own.
Is CBD Oil marijuana?
No. CBD oil or cannabidiol does not contain THC, the ingredient in marijuana that gets you high. CBD is an extract from the hemp plant and many strongly believe that it holds many of the benefits that marijuana contains without the psychoactive substance THC. (1)
Are hemp and the cannabis plant the same thing?
Both come from the cannabis plant. However, CBD is an extract that does not contain THC and reacts with the brain’s Cannabinoid receptors in a different way. (3) It does not get you “high.” The importance of these receptors in our wellness has been coming to light and CBD oil is not the only extract targeting these receptors: Over the past few years, Copiaba oil has increased in popularity as well.
I can personally say that I’ve cautiously tried several CBD products and did not feel “high” and I am very sensitive to medications. I took 1/2 of a hydrocodone from the nurse, who offered a whole pill, after my c-section and had a very bad reaction.
Benefits of CBD Oil
Searching for the benefits of CBD oil can be tricky. There are many websites listing the benefits however, the Plus CBD oil website avoids listing any. Why? My guess is that they are avoiding statements that have not been approved by the FDA.
Has the FDA approved Cannabidiol? Looking on their website, I found that “The FDA has approved Epidiolex, which contains a purified drug substance cannabidiol, one of more than 80 active chemicals in marijuana, for the treatment of seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome in patients 2 years of age and older.” (2)
The primary ingredient in CBD oil, Endocannabinoids, “are compounds that regulate vital functions such as internal stability, homeostasis, pain regulation, and immune system functioning.” (4)
You can do some google work yourself but in my research, some of the conditions (of course not approved by the FDA) include:
- Anti-inflammatory (3)
If you’ll notice this list does not include the anti-nausea benefit that’s often associated with THC and persons going through chemotherapy. Does it provide that benefit? I’d have to ask someone who tried it for that purpose, or perhaps someone will do a study.
Plus CBD Oil provides CBD oil is many forms. Capsules, soft gels, drops, balms, sprays and oral applicators. If you don’t like the taste of CBD oil you can take it like a pill or spread on the balm. Take a look at photos of the samples I’ve tested below:

I have tried a few CBD oil brands before, products I purchased from local natural health stores and I can say that I am not a fan of the taste. I’ve also tried putting CBD oil into a vape pen but found that it irritated my throat. As an asthmatic, I have to watch what I inhale and I don’t care for vaping CBD oil.
The balm smells minty and is easy to apply and the drops in the yellow bottle, taste sweet and contains ingredients including Extra Virgin olive oil, monk fruit, silica, monolaurin, quillaja saponaria, ascorbyl palmitate, alpha tocopherol, water. Different versions of this product have slighly varying ingredients. (5)
My favorite product from Plus CBD Oil is the Peppermint Spray seen above! It tastes great. Like sweet mint gum and my breath even feels fresh. While the 3mg per serving listed on the bottle was much lower than the amount listed on other similar products I’ve tried, I felt as though this one actually works.
The primary reason I want to take CBD oil is for stress-induced headaches. As my child undergoes treatment for a bone tumor associated with Ollier’s Disease including a recent major surgery where the placed an external fixator he’ll have on for 5 months…I’ve been clenching my teeth at night, getting really painful headaches and can feel tightness in my neck and back.
I do feel more relaxed and have the pain level from my headache reduce to a functional level. Tylenol and/or ibuprofen do not completely relieve this headache either but I am unwilling to take an opiate like Vicodin, which I react poorly to, in order to relieve the pain. I’m very happy with this result and I do recommend this to others.
Would I recommend Plus CBD Oil?
I would! I’ve had a good personal experience and I believe strongly in turning to natural products when possible and have personally had a good experience with this brand.
