Organizing your home on a very small budget
the packaging your food comes in, and imagine it organizing your home. One of my favorite reusable containers are Salad clamshells. They
are durable, and can be used with or without the lid to hold many items. They’re easy to wash and help encourage healthy eating habits!
- Place items in containers by function and similarity
- Use containers already available that will not break down
- Less is more, donate unused items and streamline
- Ask yourself, do I really need this?
- If the answer is no then it’s time to go!
- When shopping at the grocery store, think double function for your order. Are the containers your food is coming in good for organization? Or will they make their way straight to the trash or recycle bin?
While It’s important to keep glass containers like the ones below our of little hands’ reach, jars can make great organizational items. When we’re finished with our favorite Jelly, the label gets removed and it takes a trip through the dish washer. I store my hair ties and bobby pins in a jar, making them easy to access when needed. Larger jars like those used for canning pickles make presentable and functional storage for coffee sweeteners. The jars are so attractive that they stay out for all eyes to see next to our coffee pot and keep an assortment of artificial and natural sweeteners available for guests who don’t like the organic sugar we use. In addition, these smaller storage containers can be used for small items including personal/beauty products like hair pins, office supplies like paperclips and can even hold your change. Use them to organize cupboards, your workbench, or desk. Jars come in many sizes and finding the right food product/organizing container begins in the supermarket aisle.
Finding containers to fit your storage needs is easy, once you know where to look! So next time you hit the grocery store, think not only about your
diet, but also about how your food packaging can help organize your home. As always, thanks for stopping by!
