I was provided with this sample box of Woolzies Dryer Balls to facilitate my review However, the opinions here are my own, some company information, and photos I took and managed of the product I was provided. This post contains affiliate links.
What if you never had to buy fabric softener again? What if there was a reusable product out that was chemical free, guaranteed for 1,000 uses, and softened your clothes while decreasing dry time…..wait….there is! Woolzies Dryer Balls
!! How exciting right? Very easy to use, and as long as you can remember to leave them IN the dryer…and not accidentally take them out like I sometimes do, there is very little effort required for soft and faster drying laundry.
A few weeks ago I made a phone call to P&G about their fabric softener. I had been reading that it can cause repelling in cloth diapers and wanted to hear the info straight from the company. Know what they told me? Fabric softener isn’t supposed to be used on anything that absorbs water including towels, wash cloths and diapers…because it causes water to repel!
I grew up in the country using a clothesline and have always tried to save money and be ‘green’ by limiting how often I use the dryer. Unfortunately this means that my towels (especially towels) get crunchy and feel like stale toast. Although being ‘green’ is wonderful, if there is a way I can use my dryer for softer towels and still save energy I’m all for it. Let’s face it, it’s unpleasant to get out of the shower and dry with a crunchy towel.
- No Chemicals
- Decreased dry time (typically at least 25% less!)
- Less static and wrinkles
- Helps keep laundry untangled
- Guaranteed 1,000 uses
- Hand made
Woolzies come in a set of 3 or 6 and are carried at many major stores including Bed Bath & Beyond (nice use for that 20% coupon that comes in the mail!), Walgreens, and Amazon. Learn more about Woolzies from their FAQ
If you’re like me, the scent from laundry products can be overwhelming and unpleasant. I’m not sure who’s being fooled – I have smelled line-dried laundry, and trust me companies – you have not bottled the fragrance! Another perk about Woolzies is that they are scent-free. This means that you can customize the scent of your laundry with essential oils! Follow Woolzies’s instructions for creating beautifully scented laundry here:
“After the laundry is dry, take out 2 of the Woolzies balls and apply desired amount of pure essential oil to each ball. Toss the 2 back into the dryer and run on Air Fluff (no heat) for 10 minutes. Your laundry will smell heavenly and the scent will linger for several days! The reason for this is because hot air destroys the delicate essential oils.”
Woolzies is sold by a family owned company out of NY and are hand-made in Nepal. This provides a source of income for the women crafting them (1). This means that unlike many products we use today, they are not mass produced in factories by machine; This makes them even more ecofriendly!
In case you were wondering…..Woolzies are even safe for those with wool allergies! The balls do not shed and leave fibers on clothing (2). Watch this video from the Woolzies website showing just how they can help your laundry routine!
Woolzies sound like soft drumming in the dryer and can be used over and over again. Simply keep them in an attractive basket by the dryer and bring them out as a great conversation started with guests! Trust me, if visitors haven’t already started using Woolzies dryer balls
, they’ll definitely want to get a look at your balls!
