Reusable menstrual cups like VCups are a great alternative to tampons. Inserted just like a tampon, a reusable menstrual cup is a safe alternative and good for the environment. Unlike disposable pads and tampons, a reusable menstrual cup is cleaned and reused. In addition, a reusable menstrual cup doesn’t pose health hazards like TSS syndrome and you never run out. You simply reuse!
I started using a reusable menstrual cup about 6 months ago. I don’t know why I didn’t try reusable menstrual products sooner…but am thrilled. I’m happy to share VCups Reusable Menstrual Cups with you. This company has recently emerged on the menstrual cup market and packs a punch with this awesome startup kit including one large VCup, one small VCup and this giant bottle of cleaner! Take a look at my VCup menstrual cup sample and read my review, also visit some affiliate links for purchase.
I first started using reusable menstrual pads after my 4th baby. I have cloth diapered for several years and realized that it was time to green my period too. It wasn’t until I needed to go to the beach with my family that I dove into reusable menstrual cups. I knew that swimming with a reusable menstrual cup was ideal compared to pads and used the Lena cup for the first time this summer. Using a menstrual cup for the first time was an interesting experience and I am thrilled to have them in my arsenal of reusable products.
One hurdle I never quite got over was finding a menstrual cup cleaner. One of the reasons I love the VCups reusable menstrual cup set! This package by VCups comes with both a small and large cup and for review I also received this generously sized bottle of menstrual cup cleaner. This bell shaped menstrual cup is soft, comfortable and easy to use!

Overall impression. When I first opened the cup I thought it felt a tad softer then the Lena cup. Both the Lena and the VCups are softer then my Lunette cup. I thought it felt more similar to the Diva, while I haven’t used it personally, I have felt samples. I started out with the larger cup, after having 4 babies I knew the larger cup would be more ideal. I inserted it with the traditional C or V fold as VCups refers to it and had quite a bit of leaking. When I removed the cup I found that, as I suspected, it hadn’t opened all the way. I washed the cup and went with the punch down fold, this time I knew it opened all the way right away.
The stem on VCups is soft and very comfortable. I haven’t trimmed it yet because it’s so soft. In addition, the smaller size cup comes in handy for lighter flow days and I really enjoy having both sizes to choose from. With just a half centimetr size between the two cups, this can be easily used with many different body types. While I don’t wear a cup my entire cycle, I use it primarily on heavy flow days when my pads just wouldn’t cut it, I do like having choices and the smaller size cup for lighter days.
While many companies recommend the larger size for post-birth Mamas and the smaller for pre-birth ladies, VCups doesn’t assume size and includes both! I think this is great because you can try both sizes for a great price and not wonder if the other size would have been more fitting. While I did feel like the smaller size shifted more sideways, it did open easier and with my kegal exercises may be more fitting down the road.
