After learning about probiotics, I set out to find Probiotics for Kids. Why? Probiotics for kids are essentially the good organisms living in our digestive systems. These are needed to help keep the negative organisms at bay and play an important role in digestion and immunity. With the new Pokemon Go app out, we have been exploring even more then usual. New explorations means new opportunities for exposure to germs.
In the fall, many children are returning back to school. This change in schedule, potential stressors and interaction with others can lead to a need for an immune and gut boost. Here’s how my kids eat probiotics, and they enjoy every last bite! Americans are realizing the importance of probiotics and there are probiotics for kids and even probiotics for babies! In fact, may people believe that their includion in the diet is key to good health.
While we occasionally have yogurt, and try our best to eat organic food…it’s impossible to avoid all the processed foods and those treated with pesticides. This impacts the heath of our flora, or the bacteria living in our guts. For my family, that can lead to constipated kids, decreases in ability to fight off bad germs and digestion difficulties.
In addition to our processed diet, Americans are eating less and less fermented foods like kombucha. While, most of us aren’t eating fermented foods that would help replenish this bacteria, there are ways to improve our intake of pre and probiotics. That’s where Family Flora come in! In easy to use packets, this tasteless powder can be mixed into anything contain prebiotics (food probiotics need to survive) and probiotics (good bacteria for our bodies). I included it in home made, from scratch organic pudding adapted from Martha Stewart’s Recipe. Here’s how I did it:
Probiotic Pudding Recipe Ingredients:
- 2/3 C Organic sugar
- 1/4 C Organic Cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 C Local or Organic Milk
- 4 Large Egg Yolks (Local Free Range if Possible)
- 2 tbsp Organic Butter
- 3/4 tsp Organic Vanilla Extract
- Family Flora Daily Balance
Instructions for Pokemon Probiotic Pudding
First, in a large bowl, whisk together cornstarch, sugar and salt. Once it’s blended well, start to add the milk in small amounts. Alternate mixing and pouring in milk until well combined. Add egg yolks, one at a time and mix well.
Next, move mixture to a pot on the stove. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly. If you cease stirring, it may stick to the bottom of the pot and create chunks. As the pudding mixture thickens, it will begin to bubble. First small bubbles, then large. Wait until you pause and see large bubbles burst. Lift the wisk and check the consistency. Once it’s thickened to your liking, remove from heat and stir for another minute. If necessary (if a little chunky) pour through strainer.
Put hot pudding into a bowl and stir in organic butter, broken up into small pieces, and vanilla. You can also substitute banana flavor, or another other extract you enjoy. Peppermint for the Holidays, Strawberry etc.
Next, Place into refrigerator for several hours, or overnight, until chilled. Once cool, portion out the pudding into containers and add individual packets of Family Flora Daily Balance. It’s important to pout the powder into cool pudding because hot can decrease the effectiveness of the live powder. Then, Enjoy!
