Bambino Mio Cloth Diaper Review

Bambino Mio Review

I’ve been cloth diapering for nearly 4 years. I started when my second baby was 8 months old and have been going since! We’ve tried different brands of cloth diapers, styles and I’m so thrilled that there is always something new and exciting to share. Bambino Mio Cloth Diapers caught  my eye a few months ago. Their patterns are very unique and eye catching. In addition, their brand continues to increase in popularity. Their all-in-one (AIO) diaper known as the miosolo featured here is easy to use, absorbent and comes in really fun prints. Take a look at our sample below and visit some of my affiliates to see their great line of products.

Bambino mio is in the “heart of the English countryside in Northamptonshire.” The company started brewing in 1991 by husband and wife team, Guy and Jo, when traveling through India. They first started a cloth diaper laundry service and in 1997 they launched sales for bambino mio. The bambinio mio miosolo (all-in-one) diaper here has been well thought out and detailed. The aplix is an exact color match to color within the diaper print, and they are very soft on the interior. The PUL, waterproof outer layer, is a bit shiny and silky to the touch. Features include:

  • Cross-over aplix for small waists and poo cloth diapers
  • Aplix waist closure only (no snap)
  • Inside laundry tabs to secure scratchy aplix side during wash

  • 100% Synthetic Fiber Diaper
    • 100% Polyester lined
    • 85% Polyester 15% Nylon Core/absorber
    • Outside 100% PUL waterproof with stretch
  • Pocket opening to tuck attached AIO absorber
    • Option to add booster (s) to pocket
    • Can add a natural fiber booster or the mioboost

Overall impression of Bambino Mio Miosolo

So, true story. When I opened up the bambinio mio envelope my toddler saw this bunny print (hop) and said “that’s MY diaper!” He then took it and ran! After taking the photos here and washing the diaper, he proceeded to ask me when his “Kangaroo” diaper would be out of the wash. To my surprise, it fit him. All 40+ pounds of him. While he’s at the end range on the waist, I could actually snap up the rise snaps one rise with the single insert. (Smallest and Largest setting pictured below). It does wear more like a bikini on his torso but fits none the less.

Room for Improvement with Bambino Mio
The aplix/velcro colors seem to have been pulled right from a color in the print. It holds okay, except for some curling at the edges. The large band across the front of the diaper is the soft aplix side. Aplix is very user friendly and makes for a fast change diaper, however I do hope they offer all snaps in the future. My 7 m/o baby seen here quickly figured out how to peel it open and repeatedly takes his diaper off unless he’s wearing a onesie or other clothing over it. This did not happen until much later with his older brothers. Perhaps because it’s been very hot here, temps reaching the 90’s, and we’re having lots of diaper-only outfit days. It seems as though the sound from the edges peeling a bit when he bends and moves signals him to pay attention to it, and he’s very proud of himself once he gets the aplix off! Fast learner?! In addition, when he is sitting he becomes a bit red on his belly where the aplix is curling and touching his stomach.

While very absorbent on it’s own, the pocket allows for the addition of a booster. My baby in the photos above is wearing the Miosolo + the Mioboost. Bambino mio offers a polyester fiber booster, however if you enjoy the absorbency of a synthetic + a natural fiber absorbency combo you can easily add that to the pocket. I’ve trialed several brand natural fiber boosters and they all work well. This diaper is very versatile and you can stuff it with anything you desire, even enough for overnight! These diapers are fast to assemble, but like every AIO out there it takes a bit longer to dry. These line dry extremely well and I’ve been able to wash or sun out any staining on the first try.

About the Bambino Mio company
In addition to the miosolo seen here, bambinio mio offers swim diapers, potty training pants, a miopotty, a toilet seat, miofresh diaper cleanser, a hooded poncho towel, wetbags, liners, boosters, wipes, a diaper pail and a cover/prefold system known as the miosoft. What a line of products!! The trainer is soon to be featured in a separate article. My hope for this already diverse and well comprised company? Natural fibers and snaps!
