WAHM Bam thank you… Work at Home Moms!! It’s the Work At Home Mom Spotlight! Otherwise known as WAHMs, this series highlights amazing Mom run shops that I can’t wait to share! Why are WAHMs so awesome? Unlike a big company with a sales person, an internet person, a public relations/social media person, shipping, a sewing shop etc. and customer service…a WAHM does all of these things by herself. In addition to running every aspect of a company, these ladies (and gents, I’m sure there are a few gents) create and run their own businesses from start to finish.
This feature is on Sherry’s Creative Stitches. An embroiderer by trade, Sherry’s Creative Stitches can take any ordinary item and transform it. Her creations are amazing. The “Surrender Ye Boobies” design seen here can be created on a diaper, shirt, bib or just about anything you can imagine. While she’s currently in the process of testing and designing her own diaper pattern, you can do a send your own diaper (SYOD) to have a diaper from your favorite brand customized. As you’ll see below (on these diaper testers) her work is fantastic and I’m proud to place these on my little fluff bums! Check out her shop profile:
How does she do it? As you can see below, the embroidery has a lot of inside-diaper work. I turned the black diaper inside out so you can see. The embroidery is sandwiched between two layers of PUL (same fabric waterproof diaper cover is made from) to both protect it from diaper contents and to prevent the diaper from leaking. The opening of the diaper itself allows access for this work to be done, but can easily be completed on covers as well.
Other products she embellishes include hats, bags, shirts, backpacks, tea towels and even custom baseballs. The list is pretty endless. Designs are first created on a computer and brought to life by Sherry and her sewing equipment. If there’s a design you really want, like a licensed character etc., she can get the pattern through purchase if available. Everything from birth statistic designs, names, birthdays, Holidays…really, check out her Facebook Page to see more photos of some of her work!
Make sure to visit Sherry’s Creative Stitches on Facebook and if you don’t see something you like (which I find pretty impossible), make sure to message her. Chances are she’s up late working on designs after her babies go to bed. Here are some of her previous works below.
