tml Smart Bottoms Cloth Diapers The All in One Cloth Diaper

Smart Bottoms Cloth Diaper Review

If you love cloth diapers, chances are you’ve heard of the Smart Bottoms 3.1 all in one cloth diaper. Smart Bottoms are well known for their all-in-one design, organic fibers and for being produced in the USA. In addition to great construction and materials, they have adorable prints and creative color combinations. The print shown below is known as “aviator” and my boys insist that it’s airplane submarines. I can see where they’re coming from, right? It inspires imagination!

The diapers shown here are Smart Bottoms 3.1 All in Ones (AIO) in Aviator (print) and Superhero (red solid). They fit approximately 10-35 lb babies and have a 100% Organic Cotton inner, 10 super absorbent layers and 100% PUL water-resistant outer layer. Upon handling the diaper, it’s easy to see the time and quality that goes into each piece. One outstanding feature is the soft gathered leg bands. The leg openings are made from a wider elastic designed to help prevent redness and ensure comfort. Here, have a look inside!

Smart Ones 3.1 AIO Diapers typically fit babies from 10-35 lbs and you can see the smallest and largest settings below. The insert can be folded in half or tri-folded to place absorbency where it’s needed. Tri-folding helps the insert fit inside for smaller settings and folding in half fits perfectly into the diaper’s largest size.
Caring for diapers is easy and like all natural-fibers they need to be prepped before first use. Smart Bottoms recommends that diapers be washed 6-8 times with a warm wash/dry. However, this depends on your machine, water and laundry habits. I typically have diapers prepped in 4-5 washes and I run them through with my regular laundry cycles to save on time and preparation. Once the diapers get used they’ll go in with cloth diaper laundry, but regular laundry is my go-to for natural fiber prep.

I couldn’t wait to try these with my newborn. One major benefit to the AIO snake style soaker is it’s width. The thin width allows baby’s legs to close and doesn’t cause him have splayed legs like some of our wider inserts. However, I have noticed that these are not absorbent enough for how well hydrated he is. I have been using a booster in every diaper to help prevent leaks and overly saturated diapers with luck. Here is my newborn 10+ pounds in his Smart Bottoms.

In addition to the diapers you see here, Smart Bottoms offers a great line of products including the Smart Bottoms One 3.1 (Seen here), Side-snapping swim diaper, Smartfold Organic Prefold, Lil Trainers and the Born Smart Newborn Diaper. They even offer Wetbags, seat protectors, Stay-dry liners, boosters, inserts, package deals and even reusable sandwich bags. They really have a great line of reusable products to fit baby’s needs from birth through potty training.

While our new addition finishes growing, we’re all going to have to wait to see how he fits in his diapers. I’m sure his older brother will help out and he has already claimed Superhero. He saw me open the envelope and exclaimed “Red Diaper!!” So I’m sure to have two very enthusiastic testers, but these are my preliminary findings. I had to share!
My favorite Retailers for Smart Bottoms include:

Both locations have great customer service and easy ordering. While I’m newer to Nicki’s Diapers, I’ve been an Amazon customer for 10 years! Yes, I’m shocked too. While you can’t order directly from the Smart Bottoms Website, they do offer a great list of retailers who carry their products. I hope you have had a nearly in-person look at these diapers and I’m thrilled to share them with you!
