After reading about the effectiveness and studies done on Retinol, I couldn’t wait to add it to my skincare routine. I use a product with 2.5% retinol every other day to help with spots, collagen production and overall appearance of skin. I was excited to try out this Key West Retinol Cream with 2.5% Retinol. It has two oils in the first three ingredients, making this super moisturizing, but possibly not the best for acne prone or oily skin. It’s 71% Organic and not tested on animals.

Key West Retinol cream is designed to diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and signs premature aging like sun spots. Retinol also helps with the production of collagen. The product label recommends applying on clean skin and under a minimum SPF 15 daytime moisturizer. Retinol can make your skin more susceptible to sunburn and a sunscreen is a must. Ingredients include:
Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera), Organic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower Oil), Isopropyl Palmitate (Palm Oil), Pentylene Glycol, Phospholipids, Retinol, Polysorbate 20, Potassium Phosphate, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Cassia Angustifolia Seed, Polysaccharide, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Oil), Wildcrafted Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea), Wildcrafted Resina Propoli (Propolis), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexyl Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid.
As you can see the first three ingredients contain two types of oil. When searching for beauty products I try to avoid Palm Oil. Palm Oil is not a sustainable unless the company is using certified sustainable palm oil. I would hope that this company would start using sustainable palm oil, or replace this ingredient with something sustainable and not damaging to the environment.
Due to the amount and types of oils in this product I wouldn’t purchase it for myself, and have my Mom testing this out. Her skin is dryer and more mature, less prone to breakout and enjoys the moisturizing properties it gets from these ingredients. I personally tried it a few days and feel as though it contributed to a break out. I’ll definitely stick with my Retinol Serum and hope my Mom enjoys this cream.
I am unable to determine where this product is made and I have a message out to the company. However, you can find this nicely sized 50ml Key West Retinol Cream lotion on Amazon where 2-Day shipping is FREE with a FREE 30 Day Prime Trial Membership! So get the membership and order up!
